Last week we did a presentation at La Luz Elementary School in New Mexico. Many times we’re impressed with how the teachers relate to the students, or as they would say, “their kids.” But today was different…
for the second time we met this wonderful principal that everyone relates to as “Mr. G.” Now this is no ordinary principal, but one who goes WAY beyond what one would expect as an administrator of a school. His welcoming smile, his kindness, and his gentle nature towards the kids really touched us. Watching how he respectfully acknowledges each student, by name, as if they were the only one in the whole school…and seeing their faces light up each time that he speaks to them is a memory we will forever keep within our hearts. Thank you, Mr. G., for making this world a better place. YOU truly are a GIFT to the world:-)

PS – Love those morning announcements!

Who are these people? That’s a question we saw floating around the ‘net about us today. Kind of made us smile…

That’s the best thing about being young. Not just young, even young at heart. There’s a natural sense of wonder…curiousity…that always pulls you forward. That’s a beautiful thing. It’s what we love most about being around children. They’re not afraid to just ask you straight up – there’s no pretense to it. Gotta love that!

It’s gotten really hard to trust that people are real today. There’s so many people pretending to be someone or something they’re not, just so they can feel like they “fit” somewhere. We knew a guy who created a whole “alter ego” on the internet. Like who he was just wasn’t good enough. That’s pretty sad. Mother Theresa once said, “The greatest disease on the planet is loneliness.”

And there have been many who have taken what doesn’t belong to them. There’s alot of unresolved grief from that. That kind of hurt takes a long time to heal. And it’s hard to heal a wound that keeps getting scratched open over and over again.

We are so blessed. We have the support of our family and in our culture, that’s so important. Wherever we go, before we speak we lay down a hand woven rug we were gifted from our clan matriarch, Akwagiishnaquay (Robert’s mother). She gave us permission to go out and speak about the things we share…and she told us to take that rug and stand on it, so that no matter where we are we will always know that we are not alone, that we are being held up by our family and our ancestors. Niishin…it is good!

So if you’re wondering about who we are and where we’re coming from (aniin di wayn jih bayan), we welcome you to come on in.  This internet “technology” is pretty new to us, so please be patient. We are doing the best that we can. From the generosity of others, we’ve had a site up for many years, but only recently started sending out messages and connecting with the world this way. But we’ve been walking this road for a long, long time – and we are grateful to our elders who have given us permission to share their wisdom with the world. Miigwech (Thank you)

Don’t give up! Whatever dream you have in your heart, you can make that dream come true. It’s easy to forget that we don’t have to do everything on our own. Today we were reminded that what is important is to focus on the gifts we have, and to support others in expressing and sharing their gifts. A few months ago we made a decision to reach out further than we have in the past. Really reach…

One of the most inspiring things for us came from an email from T. Harv Eker, author of “Secrets of the Millionaire Mind.” He said something to the effect that when you hold yourself back, you’re really being selfish. And that if you’re touching the lives of hundreds, what would it take to touch the lives of thousands…if you’re touching thousands, what would it take to touch the lives of millions. That got us thinking that we have been holding ourselves back…

Well, not anymore. We are committed to inspiring as many people as we can to share their gifts (the gifts they were born with) with the rest of the world. And along those lines, we’ve gotten help from the Nitro Blueprint folks to help us understand how to do that with the help of the internet.

Admittedly, this is not our strongest suit! For years, we have been meeting people smile to smile, heart to heart, and sharing our vision of a peaceful world. Everyone has their gifts, but not everyone is good at everything. We’re not supposed to be! That’s why we need each other. And whatever we need, we can find by asking. The person who can help us is closer than we think. Everyone can be someone’s angel.

Don’t give up! We believe in you.

P.S. Thank you, David Barnes (www.estelphoto.com), for being our angel today!
